CHILDREN'S ART GALLERYSponsored by Torino Foundation, the Children's Art Gallery was established ten years ago by Barbara and Larry Domsky, owners of Design Effects. This special program provides Candlelighters' children faced with the daily hardships of living with cancer, and the disease's difficult after effects, a creative outlet found in designing arts and crafts. While creating their own art pieces, children enjoy the freedom to have fun, laugh and interact with other children faced with similar situations in an uplifting and empowering environment. The Children's Art Gallery helps Candlelighters' children forget about their cancer, even for a short while, while experiencing joy and creating everlasting memories to share with family and friends. In addition to creating memories, the art the children create helps raise funds for others facing the challenges of cancer. All of the funds raised by the children's art sold at events benefit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Children's Art Gallery. Through this program, Candlelighters provides arts and crafts at doctors' offices, as well as funding for art parties at the Design Effects Art Studio. The Children's Art Gallery brings empowerment and pride to the children of Candlelighters. On behalf of Candlelighters, we thank Brett Torino and the Torino Foundation for sponsoring the 2010 Children's Art Gallery. |
